University of St Andrews Wind Band

Open to all wind players and percussionists at the University

The University of St Andrews Wind Band is the largest un-auditioned ensemble, and the number one stop for all wind players, regardless of experience. It is the only group of its kind in St Andrews, and plays a wide variety of music, from arrangements of film scores to purpose-written wind band music.

The Band performs a concert each semester, alongside Big  BUStA. Previous concerts have followed themes including Disney, Good vs Evil and Around The World. Pieces have included Pirates of The Caribbean, Harry Potter, Mars (from Holst’s Planets Suite), as well as more traditional Scottish music such as the Hebrides Suite and original Wind Band music.

Rehearsals take place on Mondays, from 7 - 9:00pm.

No audition is required to join.

Managers: Tash McQuire and Viv Bennett

Give it a Go!

Wind Band will be hosting a Give it a Go session at the start of the next semester. Whether you're returning to the band or brand new, come along to see what Wind Band is about and join us for a social afterwards! All you need is your instrument and yourself, but feel free to bring along friends, flatmates or that random person you sit next to in a lecture that plays a musical instrument!

The band is completely student run (including conductors!) so, if you’re interested in conducting the band, please send an email to windband@st-andrews.ac.uk

Hope to see lots of you there!
